Are you Eligible?

You are eligible to participate in this study if you are:

• at least 18 years old,
• you have had sex with another man in the previous 12 months,
• you live in metropolitan Sydney, Melbourne or Perth,
• and you received a referral coupon from someone you know who invited you to participate in the study. if you have not received an invitation to participate in this study but would be happy to do so, you can contact the Data Collection Officer in your state and enroll to participate

What is involved?

If you received a coupon
Please call the contact number listed on the coupon you received and schedule a time with the Data Collection Officer or visit the participate page to enroll into the study.

The Interview
If you decide to participate, the recruiter will ask you to fill in a questionnaire, which takes about 30-40 minutes to complete. It will be a computerised questionnaire which is confidential and anonymous. You will be asked questions about your social and sexual practices, relationships, drug use, HIV serostatus, use of health services, and your understanding of norms regarding these practices. You will be able to skip questions that you do not want to answer or stop at any time.

Referrals
After you complete the questionnaire, you will be given 3 referral coupons with a unique study number, for you to give to 3 other men whom you know well. We will not record the names of the people you refer to the study, but only the numbers of the coupons you receive.

Incentives

At its completion, all members of the three longest chains of recruitment will be placed into a chance draw for three prizes (a travel voucher to the value of $4,000 and two smaller prizes $500 and $250). For that purpose, please remember your study number and keep your own coupon. Regular updates on the progress of recruitment and the winning coupon number will be posted here on our study website.
